Salema is well worth a visit if you are visiting Sagres or Cape St. Vincent. Like its near neighbor Burgau (5km) it is a quiet and almost un-spoilt village. An excellent beach makes this a popular place, though in the main for German visitors. It is possible to walk (or drive) east towards Burgau and visit the ruins of a fort built to defend against the Spanish, the remains of a Roman villa and the excellent beach at Cabanes Velha.
