This is a village/small town on the EN125. The main road has a large number of pottery/artisan shops along its sides and close to the town. This is probably one of the best places if you want to buy pottery to take home. Also recommended for its pottery is the area around Almansil close to Faro. Do remember that you have to carry it though!

• Porches Velho - 1996
  This is a major tourist attraction and some nights there are entertainers singing the Fado songs. Very good food but slightly overpriced (for Portugal) so I am told.
   
• O'Leo de Porches - 1996
  This is internationally renowned but generally costs no more than a reasonable restaurant in the UK. Superb food and good service.
