Olhão

The outskirts of Olhão put most people of visiting the centre however, like a number of other towns in the Algarve, the centre and sea front are worth a visit. There are a number of traditional flat roofed terraced houses in Portuguese style, rather like those on the outskirts of Quarteira, which have a certain, though untidy, charm. The main point of interest to the tourist is once again the sea front and the large fish market. This is easy to spot as its red brick turrets are like nothing else in sight. The variety of fish is spectacular and range from sardines and shellfish through to whole tuna and swordfish.
