There is very little to commend this area of the Algarve (photo
gallery) despite
the image that the travel shops and tour operators try to promote.
Monte Gordo, (Map - 57k) including Manta Rota is very like some of Spanish
Costas - Large concrete hotel blocks, large sandy beaches with
beach cafes and restaurants. Life after dark is centered around
the casino, discos and restaurants/bars.
It its favor it must be said that the beaches are very,
very good and that rarely does the rowdy boozy Costa attitude
rear its ugly head.
See also the surrounding areas of Cabanas
and Vila Real de Santo Antonio (often
shortened to just Vila Real).

and both tourists and locals eat here. Special menu 1400 for a glass of
juice or wine, fish or meat and sweet".
- O Frango Hot - 2000
"Opposite the Park dos Reis Hotel. Similar to Dourango but
smaller".
- Restaurante Stop 3
"Excellent, typically Portuguese restaurant, specialising mainly
in fish although has a good selection of meat dishes. Described

on the Algarve. Very popular with locals and tourists alike.
Situated towards the back of the resort just of the main square
(well sign posted) on Rua Goncalo Velho".
