Alfanzina

Alfanzina is an area between Carvoeiro and Benagil and is dotted with villas ranging from the compact to palatial set in scenery that is still used as traditional farmland. It is about 15 minutes walk to the small fishing village of Benagil which has a small but interesting beach backed by high cliffs and three restaurants. It is here that there is access to the coastal path which runs almost the full length of the Algarve and which provides spectacular views of the dramatic coastal scenery. The walk from Benagil across the cliffs eastwards to Praia da Marinha and back (about one and a half hours) is worth doing. Two beaches providing sand, swimming and marvellous rock formations are Praia da Marinha (mentioned above) and Albandeira both of which are a short drive away.
